Welcome to our History page. Executive Care Landscape Management was founded in August of 1989. August is not the best time to start a landscape business with our hot Sacramento summers.  Fortunately, I had a background of fifteen years working in wholesale nurseries. My last two positions as supervisor and then production manager taught me well for the care of plant material in high heat climates.  Imagine trying to keep twenty five acres of plant material adequately watered in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, and as if that was not challenging enough, all plant material (except large trees) are planted in solid black containers!  The outside of the container gets so hot that it burns the skin.  Imagine what was happening to the poor plant’s roots.  With that as my background, landscape maintenance was a welcome break for me. Once the plant is in the ground, and has rooted out into the soil, the soil becomes a great buffer of heat.

Since those early days with only one full time and one part time employee along with myself and my wife, we now employ fifteen full time employees.  I still consider us a small company with high standards. It has been many years of long hours, hard work, and a lot of door knocking.  Many of our employees have been with the company for five to thirteen years.

We have all seen ourselves get older, raise our families, and if they (my employees) could add anything, they would tell you about a “patron” (that is my name now, no longer Arthur, translated owner/boss) who is relentless on quality, keeping our word and owning up to our mistakes, which at times do happen, and correcting them. I tell the men that when you do not know what to say, tell the truth, it’s the best policy. So the years have seen slow steady growth, growing only to the extent that my men can learn and become more responsible. Client relations is very important to me, and at times in the summer months this important part of my job, gets stretched. Fortunately most of our clients have been with us as long as our employees, and have come to have confidence in our men and my judgement. To earn a person’s trust is a precious privilege, not to be taken lightly at all. If you are looking for a company with these values, do not stop here, but call me, or e-mail me and ask for our reference list. We have many clients, be they past landscape clients or current landscape maintenance contracts that would be more than happy to speak with you, though some may take a day to get back to you. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us.
